Xeloda tablets 500 mg №120 are a cytostatic agent. The active component of this drug is capecitabine, a derivative of fluoropyrimidine carbamate. This substance interacts in the tissues of tumors with thymidine phosphorylase, resulting in a cytotoxic effect, and - selective. Thus, the use of Xeloda makes it possible to achieve the necessary clinical response with minimal effect on healthy tissues. At the same time, some analogs of Xeloda, also cytostatics, have a cytostatic effect not selectively, using a tumor and healthy tissue.


Safety information

This drug is used in the treatment of breast cancer, including, and in the presence of metastases, as part of complex therapy - in cases when chemotherapy was not effective. In addition, Xeloda is prescribed for the treatment of colon cancer, stomach cancer and esophagus, as well as colorectal cancer.

This medicine is not prescribed concomitantly with sorivudine and its analogs, as well as patients with renal insufficiency and/or individual sensitivity to capecitabine. It is also not recommended to use the drug for pregnant and lactating women.

Side effects
